While the common cold goes away relatively quickly, more and more people suffer from a permanently "stuffed" nose. The cause often begins with chronic irritation in the nasal mucous membranes which then leads to enlarged nasal turbinates and a narrowing of the nasal airway – a condition that often does not go away on its own.
